I Was in My Office: Ratan Tata Dodges Questions On Mistry’s Ouster

Cyrus, the youngest son of Pallonji Mistry, was the first non-Tata to be appointed at the helm of Tata Group.

A day after Tata Sons announced that its board had decided to replace Cyrus Mistry as the chairman, Ratan Tata refused to take any questions from the media.

"I was in my office... no development,” Tata said on Tuesday, as he was leaving from Bombay House.

Mistry’s appointment in 2011 was seen as a victory for the Shapoorji Pallonji group, which holds about 18.38 percent in the company.

Cyrus, the youngest son of Pallonji Mistry, was the first non-Tata to be appointed to the helm of the Tata Group. He was also not the most likely contender as the group had decided to launch an international search to find Ratan Tata’s successor.
