The cabinet on Friday approved the National Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Policy designed to safeguard trademark identities, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said in New Delhi.
The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion has prepared the draft policy in this regard. The policy has seven objectives including public awareness, administration, enforcement and adjudication.
By 2017, it will take only one month to register a trademark.
