India's coronavirus tally surged to 2,36,657, with biggest single-day rise of 9,887 new cases on Saturday, 6 June. According to the Health Ministry data, the death toll stands at 6,642 with 294 new fatalities, while 1,14,073 patients have been cured or discharged.

With this, India overtook Italy’s tally and became the world’s sixth worst-hit country.

173 New COVID-19 Cases In Odisha

At least 173 more COVIID-19 cases were reported in Odisha. Total number of cases in the state is now at 2,781, including 1,167 active cases, 1604 recovered, while 10 people have died, reported ANI.

Air India Opens Tickets From US, UK

National carrier Air India said that sale of tickets commenced at 5 pm on Friday, 5 June from select destinations like USA, Canada, United Kingdom and parts of Europe as a part of Vande Bharat Mission. Over 22,000 tickets have been sold, Air India said, reported ANI.

Black Marketing of Beds Not Tolerated: Arvind Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, addressing the issue of lack of hospital beds in the national capital, said that black marketing of beds in some private hospitals will “not be tolerated.”

“I am warning those who think they will be able to do black-marketing of beds using the influence of their protectors from other parties, you will not be spared,” said Arvind Kejriwal.

He appealed to people who are asymptomatic to not get themselves tested, as it will lead to lack of testing for more serious cases.

“Delhi is conducting the most number of tests in the world but our capacity is limited. If asymptomatic patients undergo tests, our healthcare system will collapse. I request them not to go ahead with tests.”

Punjab Govt Issues Guidelines for Reopening Places of Worship, Hotels, Restaurants

Punjab Government has issued guidelines for reopening of places of worship, hotels, restaurants and other hospitality services as well as shopping malls from 8 June. According to the guidelines, restaurants shall only be allowed to open for take away and home delivery as of now.

Places of worship shall remain open only between 5 am and 8 pm and the maximum number of persons at the time of worship shall not exceed 20.

147 Fresh COVID-19 Cases in Bihar

Bihar has detected 147 more COVID-19 positive cases, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 4,745, the State Health Department said on Saturday, according to ANI.

Centre Files Affidavit in SC Regarding Migrant Labourers

The Centre has filed its detailed affidavit in Supreme Court regarding migrant labourers issue and stated that with the support of NHAI, it facilitated shifting of migrant workers who were found walking on roads by providing them requisite transport to nearest railway stations, ANI reports.

Two Kerala Mosques Put off Reopening Amid Rise in COVID-19 Cases

Even as Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan gave places of worship the go-ahead to open from 8 June onwards, at least two mosques in the state have decided not to begin functioning immediately.

This comes as Kerala has seen a spurt in COVID-19 cases in the recent weeks. The Palayam Juma Mosque in Thiruvananthapuram and the Palayam Muhiyudheen Palli in Kozhikode have both decided to wait for sometime before opening the gates for devotees, The News Minute reported.

TN Govt Fixes Price Cap on COVID-19 Treatment in Private Hospitals

The government of Tamil Nadu, on Saturday, announced price caps for the treatment of COVID-19 patients in private hospitals in the state. As per the newly fixed rates, private hospitals have been categorised into four groups -- A1, A2, A3 and A4 -- based on the number of beds and doctors available in the hospital.

For private hospitals in categories A1 and A2, the prices chargeable per day for treatment of COVID-19 patients who are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms is Rs 7,500, while the amount chargeable by hospitals in A3 and A4 categories is Rs 5,000 per day of treatment.

Meanwhile, the charges for treatment in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for COVID-19 patients with severe symptoms have been fixed at Rs 15,000 per day for private hospitals in all four categories. These rates fixed by the state government is the upper limit for each category of hospitals, reported The News Minute.

FIR Against Sir Ganga Ram Hospital for Not Using RT-PCR App for Testing

Delhi's Deputy Health Secretary has lodged an FIR against Medical Superintendent of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital for not using RT-PCR app for testing data, hence violating Epidemic Disease, COVID-19 Regulation, 2020, according to ANI.

Karnataka Reports 378 New COVID Cases

Karnataka has reported 378 new COVID-19 positive cases from 5 pm on Friday to 5 pm on Saturday, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 5,213 including 3,184 active cases. The death toll stands at 59, the State Health Department said.

Restaurants, Hotels Allowed to Open in Karnataka: B.S. Yediyurappa

Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa said on Saturday that as per the guidelines of the Union Government, restaurants and hotels are allowed to open in the state, but stated that following the prescribed precautionary measures is mandatory.

The Hotel Owners Association and the Transport Companies representatives assured the CM that that they would strictly follow the government’s guidelines.

TN Records Single Highest Day Spike With 1,458 COVID-19 Fresh Positive Cases

Delhi Govt Issues Order, No Hospital to Deny Admission to Suspected COVID Cases

The Delhi government has issued an order to ensure that no hospital can deny admission to a person with COVID symptoms on the pretext that they do not have a COVID-positive report. All such people have to be kept in the COVID suspect patient area till a report is received and accordingly further action must be taken.

2,739 New Cases of COVID-19 Reported in Maharashtra Today

2,739 new cases of COVID-19 and 120 deaths have been reported in Maharashtra on Saturday. The total number of positive cases in the state is now 82,968, including 37,390 discharges and 2,969 deaths, the Maharashtra Health Department said.
