Manipur’s ‘Miracle Man’ Attacked for ‘Siding’ With Murder Accused

The mob alleged that IAS officer Armstrong Pame showed favouritism to a native man, accused of murdering his wife.

Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong Armstrong Pame, popularly known as the 'Miracle Man' was attacked on Thursday by an angry mob for his alleged siding with the accused in Gaitaoliu Phaomei murder case, reported Imphal Free Press.

Gaitaoliu's family alleged that her husband Etube murdered her. A human skull, and body parts were found in the jungles of Tamenglong, Denying the claim, Etube said that he was in Nagaland when his wife was murdered.

The mob alleged that Pame showed favouritism to native man Etube.

Pame is the first IAS officer from Nagaland's the Zeme tribe and has earned the sobriquet ‘Miracle Man’ for spearheading the building of 100-km road stretch, famously known as the “Peoples’ Road” connecting Manipur to Nagaland and Assam, without any government help.

I do have the entire power with me to complete the matter as I wish so. But the matter is with police and the court. So the law is taking its own course of action. The accused person whom the girl’s family has mentioned in the missing report has been arrested and he is being currently interrogated and I am sure the truth will come out.

However, 144 CRPC has been imposed at four areas, including DC office complex, Tamenglong bazaar, medical gate and CMEHSS areas with immediate effect.
