Over six months ago, the Central Railway had demolished the Central Railways Patri Pool Bridge near Kalyan East.

At the time, we were promised that the bridge was being demolished only to be constructed again. But till now, there has been no sign of the bridge.

This has led to a lot of traffic congestion. During peak hours, there is usually a jam that stretches up to a kilometre. We tried to reach the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation but no one is saying anything.

It seems to us as though they (the authorities) have abandoned the work. The adjacent Tisai Bridge has been opened as a two-lane in the meantime, as a result of which, there is a lot of traffic. The road leads to Bhiwandi and this traffic is coming from Mumbra. Traffic stretches for up to 1 km, and there is no way to avoid it.

We understand why they decided to rebuild the bridge, since it was around 100 years old, but at least start the work. It is causing a lot of difficulties for us commuters.

The Quint reached out to the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation via email and is awaiting their response. This copy will be updated once we receive their response.
