We Only Get Water for 15 Minutes in Our Society in Mumbai

Water normally comes only for the last 15 minutes, that is around 5:45 pm & by 6 pm there is no water.

When there is little or no water, we end up buying water from a vendor.

We have been facing this problem for the past six months. Imagine, our water timings are for two hours from 4 pm to 6 pm, or there is no supply of water. Water normally comes only for the last 15 minutes, that is around 5:45 pm and by 6 pm there is no water.

The vendor sells water to the residents of Yaduvanshi Welfare Society, Malad who face acute water shortage.

So, if you see, in a day, we only get 15 minutes of water. That’s it and this is the peak season. Can you imagine how tough our life is? We don’t know the actual reason why we are not getting water.

Obviously, when there is little or no water, we end up buying water from a vendor. The vendor sells water to us in gallons. He is charging around Rs 20 per gallon. An average family of two people requires at least one drum, that is around 5 gallons per day. That’s a lot of money for something which we have the right to consume.

I spoke to another resident, Gulabi Kotian who like any of us buys water. “Everyday we are buying water, paying Rs 100, what else can I get? Tell me? We don’t get water here. What can we do? Where should I go to get water?”
