Counting of votes for the 40-member Mizoram Assembly is almost done where the Mizo National Front (MNF) has clinched the majority with 26 seats.

I was present at the MNF Headquarters at Aizawl as the results were being declared. This election has certainly turned the tables for both the Congress as well as the MNF.

I saw people holding banners and placards that read, ‘Mizoram is our land, ‘Lord is our strength and our song’.

I managed to capture the people of Mizoram celebrating MNF’s historic win as well as the defeat of Lal Thanhawla, who lost in pursuit of a third term as the chief minister.

A historic win for MNF.
MNF supporters held aloft banners and placards that read, ‘Mizoram is our land, ‘Lord is our strength and our song’.

Lal Thanhawla, who was seeking to win his third term straight lost this time.
The man holds a banner which reads, ‘Thanks to the people of Mizoram’.
Even the exit polls predicted the MNF leading in the 40-member Assembly, with Congress coming in second.
MNF leader Zoramthanga, confirmed that the party, would be forming the new government independently.
