The IAF strikes in Pakistan and consequent strike in Indian airspace have dominated political discourse recently, with cries of war erupting on Twitter and other social media platforms.

Youth from India and Pakistan told the The Quint’s My Report that both countries must exercise restraint, and a peaceful dialogue is the most apt way to deal with the current situation. As Shabana Islam Laskar from Guwahati puts it,

“The governments of both countries should sort out the issue with dialogue and let peace prevail.”

Krishnanath, a student from Hyderabad, said,

“War is not a tangible solution to any of the events happening around us. Wars have always been catastrophic. They claim innocent lives.”

Sarmad Iqbal, a blogger and student from Lahore, said he wishes the Indian and Pakistani leadership reach an amicable solution and put an end to the chaos and fanaticism that comes with cries of war.

“I would request the Indian leadership and the Pakistani leadership to resort to peace... War is not the solution.”

Aakash, another student from Lahore, said that the situation would be out of control if a war-like situation arises.

“This will not only be a war between two countries, but it can become a battle of religions. There will be a lot of destruction, a lot of people will die, but no one will remain to witness it.”
