A total solar eclipse is set to grace the skies once again. This will be the only Solar Eclipse in 2019 and can be watched online. This is happening about two years after the 'Great American Eclipse'.

No matter how beautiful the sight may be, it is important to note that one must not look at the sun with bare eyes or without proper glasses. Using proper gadgets for watching the eclipse is important to protect your eyes. The X-ray sheets or poloroids are not safe for viewing.

What is a Total Solar Eclipse?

When the Moon is between the Sun and Earth, obscuring the Sun, and leaving a shadow on the Earth’s surface, it is called a solar eclipse. The Moon completely blocks the light of the Sun in the case of a total solar eclipse.

The Total Solar Eclipse will be occurring on 2 July 2019. The eclipse will not be visible in India but people interested can watch it from several streaming options available online.

The partial solar eclipse is likely to start at 10:25 pm (IST) while the total solar eclipse will begin around 11:54 pm (IST).

Where will the Solar Eclipse be visible?

As per the www.space.com, the eclipse will be visible in a 200 kms wide strip beginning near the La Serena, Chile and ending just south of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The skywatchers can see a partial solar eclipse in Uruguay, Paraguay, Ecuador and Brazil.

The eclipse will be occurring mostly over the Pacific Ocean and will not have a lot of audience, however, the east coast of South America is expected to witness a spectacular sunset.

How to watch the Solar Eclipse online?

As the eclipse will occur during the night, the people interested can watch the online streaming of the eclipse from the website of Exploratorium museum. It will be streaming the solar eclipse 2019 live from the National Science Foundation’s Cerro Tololo Observatory in Chile. The live stream will begin at 12:53 am (IST).

When will Total Solar Eclipse occur next?

Total Solar Eclipse will occur next on 14 December 2020. It will pass over Chile and parts of Argentina. The next total solar eclipse that will be visible in the US will occur on 8 April 2024.
