Situated on the banks of the river Shipra, Ujjain is one of India’s seven most sacred cities. Described by the poet Kalidas as ‘The town fallen from heaven to bring heaven to Earth’, the city dates back to 600 BC, but has managed to retain much of its cultural and spiritual charm.
