Five Pakistani Fashion Designers You Must Follow On Instagram

If you are an avid follower of fashion, you probably already know these sartorial geniuses across the border. And if you don’t, it’s time you checked them out. A clutch of Pakistani fashion designers have been creating designs that reflect innovative sensibilities and exquisite workmanship. Designers like Hassan Sheheryar Yasin and Bunto Kazmi are considered among the best of the world’s couturiers.

Here are five Pakistani fashion designers who are creating magic with fabric. Here’s a sneak peek of their distinctive worlds of fashion through their Instagram accounts.

Hassan Sheheryar Yasin

One of the best known Pakistani fashion designers in the world, Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, or HSY as he is known, is affiliated to the La Chambre Syndicale De La Couture Parisienne in France. He also hosts a prime-time talk show Tonite with HSY.

Sania Maskatiya

Shortlisted for the coveted International Woolmark Prize, Sania Maskatiya was also one of the first Pakistani fashion designers to show at the Lakme Fashion Week 2014. Her work is characterised by versatile prints and unique colour schemes and silhouettes. 

Bunto Kazmi

One of the best known names in Pakistan’s fashion industry, Kazmi’s works are characterised by exquisite and detailed craftsmanship. The late MF Husain sported a customised coat designed by her.

Deepak Perwani

One of the first menswear designers in Pakistan, Deepak Perwani has styled Bollywood personalities like Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar. He is also in the Guinness Book of World Records for designing the world’s largest kurta.

Asim Jofa
