India will celebrate the festival of Bihu from Monday, 15 April to Sunday, 21 April. The festival, which depicts a set of three different cultural festivals of Assam, marks the beginning of the harvest season.

The term ‘Bihu’ has its origins in a Sanskrit word that means ‘Vishu’.

The people in the northeastern state of Assam celebrate Bohag Bihu in April, Maagh Bihu in January and Kaati Bihu in October.
