A government watchdog has sued US President Donald Trump for alleged ethics violations.

On Monday, lawyers from Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) filed a suit against Trump in federal court, alleging that his business interests were in violation of the Constitution.

The suit alleges that he had not divested his interests in the Trump organisation, including leases held by foreign governments in Trump Tower and payments from foreign government-owned broadcasters for his TV show, ‘The Apprentice’.

The lawsuit aims to shed light on Trump’s tax returns, which have not been released despite repeated calls for disclosure.
