US President Donald Trump’s immigration ban has left many angered, many confused. Adding to the confusion, White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus on Sunday asserted that the order banning immigration from select countries “doesn't include green card holders going forward”. He, however, added that anybody travelling back and forth from these countries will be “subjected to further screening”.

In an NBC interview, Priebus said one thing and then reversed it when prodded further.

“We didn't overrule the Department of Homeland Security, as far as green card holders moving forward, it doesn't affect them,” Priebus first said. After host Chuck Todd questioned him further and asked whether this impacts green card holders, Priebus made a u-turn to say: “Well, of course it does. If you're traveling back and forth, you're going to be subjected to further screening.”

The Chief of Staff further added that the order was rolled out to “protect American citizens.” “President Trump is not willing to get this wrong which is why he wants to move forward quickly and protect Americans,” Priebus said.

While a federal judge issued a stay on parts of the order on Saturday, the DHS and the White House on Sunday retaliated to state that the order continues to remain in force.
