Victim blaming.. rape culture.. misogyny... Hauz Khas Village today witnessed a protest against the sexual assault and rape, and the subsequent victim blaming, of the 24-year-old Northeastern woman who was raped at the Deer Park on Saturday night.

At about 11: 30 pm, the victim and her sister were leaving Hauz Khas Village and were looking for transport to head to their home in Munirka when the accused and his friend offered them a ride, apparently telling the victim that his car was parked near the adjoining Deer Park. While the sister was dropped in an auto rickshaw, the accused raped the victim at the park, twice.

Called by Northeast India Women Initiative for Peace, Manipur Women Gun Survivors Network, Northeast Women Forum for Peace and Meditation, Apne Aap, Northeast Support Centre and Help Line, Northeast India Forum Against Racism and many others, the protest saw people raise their voices against crimes of sexual violence against women, and misogyny, rape culture and victim blaming.

In a development related to the case, the police arrested a suspect, who could possibly be a minor, from a South Delhi locality nearly two days after the violent rape.
