Indian-born author, top chef and model Padma Lakshmi is in India to promote her memoir - Love, Loss and What We Ate. The book is a searingly honest account of her life, her battle with endometriosis, the collapse of her marriage with Salman Rushdie and her life as a brown woman in America.

Lakshmi spoke to Barkha Dutt about her book, her Madras memories, decision to go public with her personal life and why she thinks Trump, who she once described as a “racist buffoon”, is a dangerous man.
