Kerala’s popular women’s magazine Vanitha created history of sorts by featuring a transgender on its latest cover. The latest issue has Deepthi modelling for it. Deepthi who is from Guruvayoor, was born as Shinoj. According to Onmanorama, the magazine also carries a detailed interview with Deepthi in which she talks about her transformation and the suffering she had to face as a queer. Featuring Deepthi on the cover of Vanitha is seen as a move to acknowledge the identity of the third gender in public life.
