November 14-20 is Transgender Awareness Week, an opportune time to share the stories of transgender, non-binary, and other Gender-expansive individuals. The Quint is reposting this article from its archives which was initially published on October 8, 2015

“When did you realise you’re a transgender?”

“Did your family accept it?”

“What are your views on marriage?”

There are probably some of the questions you’ve always wanted to ask transgenders, especially because the sexuality of thousands of Indians who identify themselves as ‘trans’, is rarely discussed, let alone meaningfully so.

November is Transgender Awareness Month, and we still have a long road ahead to gender awareness. And yes, the concept of gender identity and conformity can sometimes get a tad confusing, so why don’t you let these five ladies clear it out for you?
