If rumours are to be believed, the popular comedy show Comedy Nights With Kapil will go off air come 2016. The show, which made a debut in June 2013 garnered a huge fan following soon after it hit television screens and made household names of not just Sharma but his extended small-screen family as well, be it Dadi Ali Asgar, Gutthi Sunil Grover, Sumona Chakravarti, Upasana Singh and the rest.
Reports suggest that post January 17, 2016, the show will be replaced by the second season of Anil Kapoor’s drama series 24. Kapil Sharma’s strained relations with Colors channel reportedly after the comedy star took leave from the show to promote his debut film Kis Kis Ko Pyar Karoon. The channel then began a show titled Comedy Nights Bachao in its place, which continued even after Kapil’s show returned.
While there has been no official statement given on this either by the channel or by Kapil Sharma himself, according to ABP Live, Sharma revealed in a recent interview that he was affected by the step-motherly treatment given to his show by the channel.
However, fans of Comedy Nights With Kapil have no reason to worry. Given the popularity of the show, we’re guessing that it will just move to another channel, if issues remain unsettled between Sharma and Colors.
