Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif made her first Cannes red carpet appearance at the 68th Cannes Film Festival this year.

Last year, the 31-year-old actress joined the ranks of Aishwarya Rai, Freida Pinto and Sonam Kapoor to become yet another face of popular cosmetic brand, L’Oreal.

The Bollywood star lost no time in making her presence felt at the iconic event. In an interview, Katrina talks about the growth of women and their roles in Indian cinema.

A lot of films with very strong female characters, a lot of films that are doing well are where the female protagonist has got a very strong personality, independent mind. I think that’s only going to keep growing and changing, and I think that’s very important, not only for us, but for the country, and the way women are looked at.”
