The most talked about military accomplishment in recent Indian history: the surgical strikes of 2016, will now be presented in a Bollywood film. The Indian Army orchestrated the most sophisticated operation across the (LoC) in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) after military lives were lost in the Uri attacks. This entire operation will soon be seen on the big screen.
The film titled Uri will star Vicky Kaushal in a pivotal role. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film will also feature an ensemble cast to tell the story of what happened in the eleven days after the Uri attacks that led to the surgical strikes.
Speaking about the project, Kaushal, who will reportedly play the commander-in-chief who led the paratroopers post the Uri attack said:
The film’s director Aditya Dhar added, “This is the story of what happened in those eleven days. It’s an honour and very reassuring to be backed by Ronnie Screwvala and to execute on this vision and what we believe is an engaging and thrilling story inspired by this true life incident.”
Uri will be produced under ‘RSVP’, Ronnie Screwvala's movie company.
Kaushal will be undergoing some paramilitary training before he begins to shoot for Uri. The film will go on floors early next year after the actor wraps up the shoot for Meghna Gulzar’s Raazi in which he's paired opposite Alia Bhatt.
