HBO recently released The Last Watch, a documentary on the making of the season 8 of Game of Thrones, which offers a behind-the-scenes look at the production of Game of Thrones as well as insight into the emotional ties that the actors have developed with their characters and each other over the years.

One part of the documentary that seems to have struck a chord with fans is the moment Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow in the series, tears up on learning that his character kills Daenerys Targaryen. Clips have been doing the rounds of social media and for Game of Thrones fans, the moment seems almost as emotional as the actual scene.

“Not gonna lie this is far more emotional than the actual scene itself,” wrote one Twitter user.

“The clip from #TheLastWatch of Kit Harington learning that Jon Snow kills Daenerys is making me feel more for the actor than I felt for the character,” wrote another.

A few Twitter users pointed out that while Kit Harington hadn’t read the script ahead of the table reading, Sophie Turner reacted much like her character Sansa Stark might have.

From plot holes to episodes that were literally too dark, season 8 of Game of Thrones wasn’t well-received by many fans. So much so that over a million fans signed a petition to remake the final season. Kit Harington responded to the news in an interview with Esquire saying, “In the end, no one’s bigger fans of the show than we are, and we’re kind of doing it for ourselves. That’s all we could do, really. And I was just happy we got to the end.”
