Kya Qusoor Hai Amala Ka?, the Hindi remake of the popular Turkish TV show Fatmagul, goes on air on popular general entertainment channel Star Plus, starting 3 April. The story of a village girl gang raped by a bunch of rich boys set in Ildir, is most relevant in India today. The dubbed version of the original (aired on ZINDAGI channel) has also been widely appreciated by Indian audiences.

Pankhuri Awasthy of Razia Sultan fame is filling the shoes of Beren Saat, as the main lead in the Hindi remake. Amala’s story is set in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, and at the heart of it is her fight for dignity. Purnendu Shekhar, Nandita Mehra and Bhairavi Raichura of Balika Vadhu fame are helming the project.

But curiously enough, Kya Qusoor Hai Amala Ka? will be showcased in the afternoon segment at 12:30 PM. We wonder if the poignant story will get the viewership it deserves in the middle of the day.

It feels amazing to be a part of this show Kya Qusoor Hai Amala Kya? I’m really happy to have this opportunity of playing the lead. Amala is an unconventional character and a huge responsibility as the way such shows are perceived in the Indian society. It is very sensitive, hence the makers have kept in mind the Indian sensibilities while creating the show.
