The ninth season of Amitabh Bachchan’s Kaun Banega Crorepati got it’s first crorepati in the form of Anamika Majumdar. The homemaker and NGO worker from Jamshedpur is a commerce graduate and runs her own NGO called ‘Faith in India’.

So what inspired Anamika to take part in Kaun Banega Crorepati?

I have followed KBC from the very first season and had tried several times but this time it was a do or a die situation for me. My NGO needed funds because the government wasn’t helping us. When the registrations opened, I applied and once I got to know that I have entered the game then I knew it is the time to burn the midnight lamp. I was given almost a month to prepare, I worked as hard as I could. I studied current affairs, general knowledge and history. I had in mind the purpose I was working for which motivated me to work harder day by day.

Anamika Majumdar says Amitabh Bachchan seemed more overjoyed at her win.

On being asked how she is going to use the money Anamika said:

The entire money will be used in the development of Jharkhand. It is not justmy win, it is a win for the women of Jharkhand. It is not a developed state -women and children both need upliftment here. I will not spend even a penny on anything else other than the required place and that is what Amitabh ji has advised me to do. I didn’t get anything for my family from the winning amount and I don’t think they will like it if I spend it on them rather than spending on the cause I went for. My children and my family are very happy, it is time for celebration and it is Diwali before time. We all have been dancing and enjoying my victory. I don’t want to distribute food and clothes, that is something a lot of people do. I want real development, which will come through educating as many children as I can.

The 41-year-old lady not only runs an NGO but also writes and directs plays for children, which helps them convey a social message to society. According to Anamika, it was Big B who seemed more happier on her win. The superstar got off his seat and couldn’t control his excitement. Describing the winning moment, Anamika recalls:

I didn’t get any first thought, I was in a state where I couldn’t register anything until Amitabh ji started laughing. I had tears in my eyes because I achieved what I wanted. I had made everybody happy. The question was based on the Constitution and I was sure about my answer. After which I didn’t take up the next jackpot question as I wasn’t sure about the answer and didn’t want to lose the money I had just won. So I played it safe.
