With rave reviews and ecstatic fans, everyone’s expecting big numbers from Salman Khan’s Eid release Sultan... and the film did deliver having reportedly opened with Rs 36.54 crore on day one. At first Bollywood trade magazine, Super Cinema tweeted the figure of Rs 38 crore on Thursday afternoon.

Later, Taran Adarsh tweeted a fresh figure which was lower at Rs 36.54 crore

Though huge, it hasn’t broken Salman Khan’s previous day one record held by Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, which earned Rs 40.35 crore last year. The biggest first day draw continues to be Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year, which opened to a bumper Rs 44.97 crore collection on day one in 2014.

So, Sultan has now become the second biggest day one earner for Salman:

Trade analysts are hopeful that with 4 more days to go, Sultan could smoothly cross the Rs 100 crore milestone by day 3 and earn about Rs 150 crore by the weekend.
