Whenever I failed in life, my daddy strongest used to step in and tell me, “Just like success, learn to enjoy failures too. Success becomes boring after a while. It’s the failure that teaches you to become a better person. Toh dosti karo failure se. You’ll thank it later.”

Phir kya tha, failure and I said ‘hi’ and got along fine. But that was my papa; he is no Shakti Kapoor. Phew! Thank god for that.

’Cuz the bad guy of Bollywood had some pearls of wisdom for his daughter Shraddha Kapoor. Talking about her two-back-to-back failures (Rock On 2 and Ok Jaanu) to DNA, this is what papa Kapoor had to say:

Unlike me, Shraddha has got a rich father, so she can take it easy...

*Slow clap!*

So Shraddha, it seems you’ve got nothing to worry about, daddy dearest will take care of everything. But there is something that you do need to worry about – and that’s your dad’s attitude towards your career.

There are no shortcuts in life. Shraddha, your daddy needs to understand that you’re no longer a "nanha sa, pyara sa, chhota sa bachcha". You’re a financially independent woman, who can take care of her needs and take pride in her failure. She needs no daddy’s paisa to back her.

This is not the kind of role model you want to be for all the young ladies out there. And if we go by your father’s logic, Shraddha, you probably would never have to work. ’Cuz you’ll marry a rich guy, just so that you can take it easy.

The problem is not your flop films, but this regressive behaviour that’s deep-rooted in our society, which needs to be eradicated. The notion that men don’t give a shit about a woman’s career comes alive in this one ridiculous sentence.

So Shraddha, we hope you get up and wipe off the dust and say "thank you, but no thank you" to your daddy and his money. ’Cuz girl, you’ll make your own living and build your own retirement plan.
