The Rangoon teasers have been making quite a buzz in tinsel town. Leading the very talented star cast from the front, Kangana Ranaut has already become the talking point of the film.
We caught up with the star to talk about playing Julia, getting intimate with Shahid Kapoor and of course, the Hrithik Roshan controversy.
Here are some of the highlights from the ‘Queen’s’ transformation into Julia.
On Working With Vishal Bharadwaj & Sajid Nadiadwala
Vishal’s cinematic brilliance is of a peculiar quality which is never borrowed. He is in a league of his own and I think he is the only director who matches up to the excellence of Guru Dutt ji or K Asif sahab. He is the contemporary example of an epic filmmaker. I am happy to have been a part of his first romantic film. Sajid was the kind of man we needed for such a large scale film. His vision as a producer was great.

On Kissing For the Camera
Shahid and Kangana kiss on celluloid for Rangoon.
Shooting intimate scenes for a film is awkward, embarrassing and sensitive. Just like the film portrays an imitation of World War II, we imitate a kiss on-screen. So I cannot tell who is a better kisser.

On Hrithik’s Silence And The Controversy
Everyone is expressing their own side, some do it upfront whilst some prefer underhand or behind the back. Everyone is free to express their own side.
On Being Julia

This is not a biopic on Fearless Nadia. Vishal was fascinated by the action heroines of the 40s. In the beginning, Julia succumbs to her husband’s expectations but later on she finds true love in Nawab. That’s when she becomes jaanbaaz Julia. This is something everyone will connect to, the fight-and-flight aspect of love.
The film focuses on a love triangle between Shahid Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut and Saif Ali Khan set against the backdrop of World War II. It is slated to release on 24 February.
