According to reports, Shah Rukh Khan, his wife Gauri Khan, Farhan Akhtar and director Rahul Dholakia have been issued notices by a court in Ahmedabad on Thursday after a defamation suit was filed by gangster Abdul Latif’s son Mushtaq Shaikh.

Shaikh has sued the three production houses involved in the film for Rs 101 crore, alleging that the film Raees shows his father in bad light. Latif’s son has sought an injunction against the release of the film and its promotional material on the basis that the Raees is based on Abdul Latif’s life.

According to PTI, the petitioner claims that when the script was being researched, his family members were consulted and the producers had also advertised that the film was based on Latif’s life. A report in Indian Express states that Shaikh claims in the trailer of the Raees, Shah Rukh Khan is shown running a brothel and using women bootleggers, which the real Abdul Latif never did. Responses to the petition are expected to be filed by May 11. Raees is scheduled to be this year’s big Eid release.
