Despite the furore over his repeated paroles earlier this year, Sanjay Dutt has once again made an application to the divisional commissioner for a month long parole.

According to a report in The Indian Express, the office of divisional commissioner confirmed that they had received Dutt’s parole application and it was being processed.

Dutt is currently serving the remainder 42 month term of the 5 year sentence handed by the Supreme Court in May 2013. Dutt was sentenced for illegal possession of arms in a case related to the 1993 serial blasts in Mumbai.

Sanjay Dutt’s constant leaves from jail had kicked up a row earlier, with several social and media organisations questioning the state authorities leniency in granting furloughs to the jailed actor. Dutt has reportedly spent 118 days out of prison ever since his jail term began. This fresh application, if granted, might put the spotlight back on Dutt and the curious case of furloughs.
