Remember the well into which Parshya jumped so he could attract Archie’s attention? And that tree on whose dead branch Archie used to sit? If you have seen and loved Sairat like most people living in Maharashtra, you’d know what we are talking about. This fabled tree in the Nagraj Manjule film has become a talking point again because - well, it’s broken.
Post the film’s wild popularity, the tree and the well located in the Karmala taluka in Solapur district have become tourist spots of sorts with hundreds of couples flocking there to take selfies. But sadly, the dried tree branch finally gave in today to the pressure of selfie-seekers and made it to national news to the extent that a Marathi channel produced a half-an-hour programme on how people are reacting to it on social media.
Facepalm.
Incidentally, if you have been wondering what happened to the Sairat stars Rinku Rajguru and Akash Tohosar, here’s news. Rinku, who has resumed her studies is preparing for her class X exams. She is reportedly going to consider some of the offers she has been flooded with after the exams are over. Akash meanwhile is shooting in Italy for Mahesh Manjrekar’s Fu.
The film is being remade in five languages. What’s more, Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions will remake it in Hindi. According to reports, Shahid Kapoor’s half brother Ishaan Khattar might star in it with Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter Sara Khan or Sridevi’s elder daughter Jhanvi Kapoor.
