In what can be seen as a setback to the government, the Kerala High Court on Tuesday asked for filmmaker Sanal Kumar Sasidharan’s thriller S Durga to be screened at the ongoing 48th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

The HC verdict comes after a petition was filed by Sasidharan challenging the dropping of his film S Durga from IFFI, which was earlier chosen by the festival jury. The filmmaker had alleged that the I&B Ministry had vetoed the decision of the IFFI jury without any authority of law and without giving any reason.

Sasidharan tweeted about his victory in the Kerala High Court:

(At The Quint, we are answerable only to our audience. Play an active role in shaping our journalism by becoming a member. Because the truth is worth it.)
