Singer Shaan turns 43 today, but believe me he looks 10 years younger. If you grew up in the 90s, Shaan and his pop songs were a rage. Remember those days of the indie pop music boom? We bring you some all time favourite pop numbers by Shaan including those catchy filmi remix numbers.
Shaan’s first remix album was Q - Funk in 1995. He teamed up with the pop music guru Biddu for remixes. Shantanu Mukherjee is what he was called before Biddu decided to give him a new name – Shaan. He got recognized with this popular remix version of RD Burman’s hit Roop Tera Mastana.
Next Shaan teamed up with sister Sagarika Mukherjee for a pop album called Naujawan. His long haired, funky look was loved by us early desi MTV viewers.
Love-Ology mein first, baaki sab mein fail
Aao yaaro seekho humse pyaar bhara yeh khel!
These lyrics of Shaan’s solo album Love-Ology may sound inane now, but this song was quite a big hit amongst the college crowd then. Check Shaan’s nerdy college boy look in the music video.
This hit song from the film Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhi, continues to be popular though the film didn’t do well at the box-office. Shaan sang this peppy track for music composers Vishal-Shekhar.
This song remained on top of the charts for months. Written and sung by Shaan, composed by Ram Sampath, the Tanha Dil album bagged him the MTV Music Awards Asia for Best Solo Album.
