How do you fancy the idea of a fist-to-fist between Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar at  the climax of  Robot 2 aka 2.0? The film’s director Shankar and his team of international action directors are looking at a never-before  on-screen combat between the two superstars.

However, there are a few loose ends to be tied up before the ambitious climactic action sequence is shot. According to sources, Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth have two separate points of view on how exactly the final action scene should play out.

“Akshay wants the big climax fight to be raw, real and credible, whereas Rajini sir wants it to be done with special-effects for the kicks and somersaults, so that the stunts are more stylised and ….well, ‘Rajinikanth’ in  spirit. Accommodating these two separate schools of choreographed action in the same climax is a problematic situation,” says the  well-informed source.

Apparently, the action team also wants to use a body double for Rajinikanth in place of the real star in the fight scenes with Akshay Kumar. “But Rajini sir is dead against the use of a body-double and wants to do the action himself,” says a Robot 2 crew member.

“We are very careful about Rajini sir’s health. We don’t allow him to strain himself at all, no matter what the demand is. Akshay on the other hand, is always raring to go. He is at the peak of his physical power,” the source adds.

While a large part of the film has already been wrapped up, the climax and two songs are yet to be shot. Rajinikanth is currently busy shooting for his film Kaala in Mumbai.
