The late superstar, Rajesh Khanna’s famous bungalow ‘Aashirwad’ is being demolished by its new owner, Shashi Kiran Shetty. The sea-facing erstwhile residence of Bollywood’s original superstar is located at Mumbai’s Carter Road and the demolition of the structure has been underway for the past two weeks.

Rajesh Khanna bought the bungalow from actor Rajendra Kumar in 1970 during his superstardom. Kumar considered the bungalow unlucky for himself, but Khanna delivered 15 hits in a row after buying the property from ‘Jubilee’ Kumar. The Aradhana star reportedly wanted his bungalow to be made into a museum but Khanna’s family after his demise sold it to businessman Shetty for a reported sum of Rs 90 crore.

Shetty now plans to build a four-storey residential building in the 6,500-sq-foot area where ‘Aashirwad’ stood.
