Priyanka Chopra has apologised after her cover on Conde Nast Traveller magazine was termed “insensitive”.

Soon after the actress shared the cover photo on her Twitter account, many took notice to her t-shirt which had the words Refugee’, ‘Immigrant’, ‘Outsider’ crossed out while the word ‘Traveller’ wasn't.

I’m really apologetic about sentiments being hurt. I have always been against labels. I am very affected and feel really horrible, but the message has been misconstrued. The magazine was very clear that they wanted to send a message about addressing xenophobia with labels.

Many criticised the magazine and the actress over the "privileged" message, pointing out how being a “refugee” was not a choice, especially in the context of the Syrian refugee crisis.

Conde Nast Traveller also issued a statement indicating how they believed in a world where there are no borders:

We must recognise that we are all on a journey. Whether we are moving across oceans or just a few kilometres, or in our mind’s eye, into a completely different world, whether we are doing so due to free will or circumstance - we are all travellers. And this is why Priyanka Chopra — a star at home and abroad, who has experienced first-hand the opportunities that travel offers — is the perfect ambassador.

Chopra also told NDTV that she was trying to show her support to refugees but the message got misconstrued.

But it got misconstrued, and I’m sorry people saw it like that and they saw it on me.
