Thirty one-year-old struggling actor Pearl Punjabi jumped off the terrace of her building in Lokhandwala on Thursday (29 August) night. She was rushed to Kokilaben hospital where she was declared brought dead. According to the police, Punjabi was going through psychiatric treatment since her father was murdered twelve years back.

She had apparently attempted suicide a few times in the past but this time she succumbed to the injuries. According to Freepressjournal, Punjabi was a struggling actor and had barely managed to survive in the industry with small modelling assignments. Since Punjabi’s mother was aware of her daughter’s suicidal nature, she would make sure the doors of her house were double locked before she went to bed.

“On Thursday night, she forgot to lock the door and only put the latch on. When Punjabi woke up around midnight and realised the door was not locked, she quietly opened the latch and went to their terrace, from where she jumped off, at nearly 1.15 am. The watchman heard a loud thud, after which he went around the society to ascertain what had happened. “The guard found Punjabi lying on the ground, in a pool of blood,” Kishor Gaike, the senior inspector of Oshiwara police station, told Free Press Journal.
