We bet you know of ‘Vande Mataram’ as a song sung to our Motherland India, literally meaning ‘Mother, I bow to thee’.

However, 18 year-old musician Viraj Bahri has a slightly different take. Viraj was born with an ear for music. Along with his mother Promila Bahri, who is also a singer par excellence, he produced a heartwarming rendition of Vande Mataram, giving the song new meaning.

Here, the song beautifully expresses the love between a mother and child. The single was released around the time of the Nirbhaya case to highlight the need to respect and love the women in our lives.

Just out of high school, Delhi-based Viraj has now set his sights on the prestigious 'Berklee School of Music' in Boston, where he will be starting his undergraduate degree in music.

It doesn’t end here. For all you lovers of Bollywood music, here are a few of his other works, which will take you on a soulful musical journey.
