It’s a sad day for Sufi music aficionados as it suffered its greatest loss today.

Ustad Pyarelal Wadali, the younger brother of Ustad Puran Chand, breathed his last on Friday morning, 9 March, after he was admitted in the Fortis Escorts Hospital in Amritsar. The Wadali brothers have been popular for their diverse style of singing such as kaafian, ghazal and bhajan. And their soulful music didn’t remain within the boundaries of Sufi tradition.

Their voices had transcended into Bollywood, and were touching the hearts of millions, with songs such as ‘Aye Rangrez Mere’ (Tanu Weds Manu) and ‘Ik Tu Hi Tu Hi’ (Mausam) among many others.

As the news of his unprecedented death made the headlines, his fans took to Twitter to pour their hearts out.
