The makers of the upcoming film Panipat released a new song on Monday, 2 December called ‘Sapna Hai Sach Hai.’ The song has been composed by music duo Ajay-Atul and written by veteran poet and writer Javed Akhtar. Singers Shreya Ghoshal and Abhay Jodhpurkar have lent their voices to the song.

In the film, the song takes viewers through the wedding ceremony of Sadashiv Rao Bhau (played by actor Arjun Kapoor) and Parvati Bai (played by actor Kriti Sanon). The customs followed are as per a traditional Hindu-Marathi wedding in the film, complete with the royal Maratha couple taking saat phere around the sacred fire. The tone of the song is mellow, but it spills exuberance through its grand costumes, attires, make up and set design.

The lyrics read, “Sapna hai sach hai ki jaadu hai, ya jaane kya hai. Behta samay ek pal ko, yahin tham gaya hai!” (Is this a dream or reality or magic? The ever flowing time, seems to have stopped here!) which seems to translate the thoughts of Kriti Sanon’s character Parvati Bai as she is about to get married.

Panipat, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker and produced by Sunita Gowariker and Rohit Shelatkar is a film based on the Third Battle of Panipat when the Marathi Peshwas, lead by Sadashiv Rao Bhau take on the fierce Afghan ruler Ahmad Shah Abdali (played by actor Sanjay Dutt) who plans to take over India. The film is scheduled to release on 6 December 2019.
