The makers of Sonam Kapoor-starrer The Zoya Factor have released the first song from the film. Titled ‘Lucky Charm’, the catchy number sounds like a Punjabi folk song with lyrics that list the various superstitions that are common in India. The song has been composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and performed by Raghuvir Yadav and Shankar Mahadevan with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

Watch the video here:

The video opens with Shah Rukh Khan announcing how Zoya Solanki’s (Sonam Kapoor) father deemed her a lucky charm since her birth coincided with India’s historic win at the 1983 Cricket World Cup. Years later, a grown-up Zoya meets the members of Indian cricket team who begin to consider her as their good luck charm whose presence helps them win each match. There’s even a comical shot at the end with one team member seeking blessings from Zoya who is dressed like a goddess.

Sonam Kapoor had earlier said that she would wear only red clothes for promotional events related to the film. “I'm a little superstitious in real life. I don't know if it is superstition or not, but I believe in destiny. Everything happens for a reason. There is a reason that I am sitting here and many other girls are not, who probably deserve it more or less. I'm a firm believer in destiny and hard work,” she said at the trailer launch.

The Zoya Factor has been directed by Abhishek Sharma (Tere Bin Laden, Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran) and stars Sonam Kapoor, Dulquer Salmaan and Angad Bedi. The film releases in theatres on 20 September.
