Actor Abhishek Bachchan and director Remote D’Souza joined The Quint to talk about their film Be Happy releasing on Amazon Prime Video on 14 March.

Talking about the things about the film that resonated with him, Bachchan said, “Being a parent, to go above the call of duty for your child is something that resonated a lot to me. Also, how we should sometimes have faith in the younger generation – listen to them because they might know something you've missed.”

D’Souza added, “When parents are stopping a child from fulfilling their dream, they might not know how far the kid could go if they supported their dreams.”

Talking about his character, Bachchan said, “Shiv doesn't want his daughter Dhara to feel the vacuum of not having a mother. He's the father; there's a certain maternal instinct he can't have but he tries. In order to be empathetic to a young girl and her dreams, he tries to do everything he can but he realises that maybe the way he's going about it is wrong.”

When talking about parenthood, Bachchan added that his father, actor Amitabh Bachchan still ‘pulls rank’ on him,

“You spend your time from their birth empowering them to look after themselves. And when they start showing those traits, you're like, ‘No, you're still a kid’. Happens with me as well. I have an 83-year-old dad who still likes to pull rank on me. I realise, for him, I'm always going to be his baby.”
