Believe it or not, but this is his tenth attempt at trying to pretend to be an actor and unless some really harsh steps are taken, I don’t see him backing off anytime soon!
But seriously, it doesn’t matter what we think of Mr Reshammiya’s acting skills or rather the lack of it. The fact that he along with director Shawn Arranha think of us as total imbeciles is more insulting. The story charts a ridiculous course and yet Himesh, in his monotonous voice, will narrate scenes and even “frames” that quite frankly are self-explanatory. This utterly forced narration is actually the least of our problems. Seeing him with chapped lips and a blanked out expression is the most painful part.
Himesh plays Raghu, a sullen-faced robotic man who only knows how to swallow hard each time he has to emote. The man has a back story. A former child delinquent sentenced to a reform home, he now is a skilled undercover assassin! The love of his life is Tara, played by the new firang in Bollywood Farah Karimaee. A cross between Katrina Kaif and Nargis Fakhri, she brings in plenty of skin show and very little soul. Tara lands up in a jail in Dublin and Raghu must do everything he can (like walk in slow motion and stand as if waiting to be whispered his lines) in order to save her.
There is also Naseeruddin Shah, Kabir Bedi, Shekhar Kapoor and Shernaz Patel for company. Doing what? Ensuring they have enough money to pay their EMIs and essential bills!
For 1 hour 45 mins one inconsequential song after another tests our patience and yet it’s only in the last 5 mins that the alleged villain is brought forth. An excruciating wait and one that we are better off avoiding!
1 QUINT OUT OF 5 is what this one deserves!
