Sarcasm makes the best jokes! Well, the most popular characters on American TV certainly have a ton of it up their sleeves. Wouldn’t it be great if Indian TV shows had a bit of it too? I mean honestly, who after Ratna Pathak Shah from Sarabhai vs Sarabhai has struck you with their wicked sarcasm? And she too is a rare example.

But immensely popular award winning American sit coms like FRIENDS, Two And A Half Men, House MD and Big Bang Theory cleverly script in characters that have a sarcastic punch for every situation. In fact Jim Parsons, who plays the hugely popular nerd Sheldon Cooper in Big Bang Theory, gets every thing except sarcasm. And even that is funny!

So buck up Indian television. Give us a bit of the jovial sneering and amusing mockery that we love so much!
