Williams, goes to MIT when she is 15, and is a small black woman in the comic book. When asked about the how the name came into existence, Bendis told Wired:

Tony (Stark) first put on the armor to save his heart. Riri puts it on for different reasons altogether but still heart-related.

While Tony Stark himself won’t be seen in his suit, he will appear in Willaims suit as the Artificial Intelligence, in-built inside her Ironheart.

She enters Stark’s radar when Tony Stark’s best friend, James Rhodes spots her and reports her to Stark. The rest is history.
