The much-awaited teaser of Abhishek Kapoor’s Kedarnath, starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan, has been released. The film marks the Bollywood debut of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter Sara Ali Khan.
Kedarnath is a love story set against the backdrop of the floods that wrecked the temple town and left thousands dead in June 2013. Shot along a 14-km pilgrimage from Gauri Kund to Kedarnath - the 2,000-year-old temple of Lord Shiva - the film plays out the relationship between Mansoor and Mukku played by Sushant and Sara respectively. A biopic on southern film industry's adult film star Shakeela will see her play a cameo.
Director Indrajit Lankesh is helming the movie, which stars Richa Chadha in the role of Shakeela, who was popular in southern showbiz in the 1990s and continues to work even today.
Before commencing the film's shooting, Richa had a rendezvous with Shakeela in Bengaluru to understand the nuances. Seeing the camaraderie between both the actors and also to honour Shakeela's popularity, Lankesh roped in the real Shakeela for a cameo in the film, reports IANS.
"Slumdog Millionaire" actor Dev Patel is set to make his directorial debut with revenge thriller titled "Monkey Man".
Patel will also act in the movie, which is being presented to buyers at this year's American Film Market (AFM), reports variety.com.
"Monkey Man" centres on a boy (Patel), who emerges from prison to grapple with a world marred by, in the words of the logline, "corporate greed and eroding spiritual values".
The release announcing the project was slim on plot details beyond saying that the film is set in modern-day India, but also deals with mythology.
Patel, an Oscar nominee for "Lion," co-wrote the script with Paul Angunawela and John Collee.

"The Simpsons" showrunner Al Jean rubbished reports of Apu Nahasapeemapetilon being written off from the show amid the much-heated debate over the character's stereotypical portrayal.
Last week, producer and "Castlevania" animator Adi Shankar told IndieWire that the show is planning to "drop the Apu character altogether".
Shankar, who is not attached to "The Simpsons, clarified that he received the news from two people who work for the show and a third source who works directly with creator Matt Groening.
Jean discredited the news saying Shankar was "not a producer" on the show.

Veteran Marathi singer, lyricist and music composer Yeshwant Deo passed away after a brief illness here on Tuesday, family sources said. He was 91.
Deo breathed his last at the Sushrusha Hospital in Dadar where he was admitted for treatment of pneumonia and other complications almost three weeks ago.
His last rites shall be performed at the Dadar Crematorium here later on Tuesday.
Born on November 1, 1926, Deo trained in music under his father and became a well-known figure in the Marathi film industry and music circles, reports IANS.
After backing the Hindi remake of the Telugu film "Prasthanam", actor Sanjay Dutt will now make his debut into Marathi cinema as a producer.
His production banner, Sanjay Dutt's Productions, will produce the yet untitled Marathi film.

Singer Pharrell Williams has warned US President Donald Trump against playing his "Happy" song, after it was used at a rally just hours after the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting.
Williams' attorney Howard E. King sent a cease-and-desist letter to Trump on Monday after "Happy" was played at his Saturday rally in Murphysboro in Illinois, reports variety.com.
"On the day of the mass murder of 11 human beings at the hands of a deranged ‘nationalist', you played his song ‘Happy' to a crowd at a political event in Indiana," King said in the letter.
"There was nothing ‘happy' about the tragedy inflicted upon our country... and no permission was granted for your use of the song...," he added.
Eleven people from the age group of 54 to 97 were gunned down on October 28 at the Tree of Life synagogue, where three separate congregations were holding services, reports IANS.

Faisal Farooqui, a family friend of the actor, refuted media reports claiming that Dilip Kumar is now unable to take food, medicine and even water through his mouth. "I want to assure to all the millions of people who love Saab and admire his work, that Dilip Kumar is doing well. There is no need to panic... Such unfounded fake news creates panic and anxiety in the minds of millions of Dilip Kumar fans and well-wishers," said Farooqui in an interview with IANS.
He urged fans to follow the official Dilip Kumar Twitter handle for health updates on the actor.
Earlier this month, Dilip Kumar was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital for treatment for recurrent pneumonia.
