The long drawn legal battle between actress Karisma Kapoor and her estranged husband Sanjay Kapur has finally been settled. According to ANI, Karisma and Sanjay have come to an agreement on the modalities for a separation before the Supreme Court. A few important points from the settlement are as follows:

  • While Karisma has been given the custody of their two children, Sanjay will get visitation rights.
  • A house in Mumbai belonging to Sanjay Kapur’s father has been transferred in Karisma’s name.
  • An amount of Rs 10 lakhs for the expenses of the children will be derived from the monthly interest of bonds worth Rs 14 crore purchased by Sanjay Kapur.
  • Supreme Court has quashed an FIR lodged by Karisma against her husband and in-laws.

After a wedding in 2003, Karisma Kapoor and Sanjay Kapur had filed a mutual consent divorce petition back in 2014. However, Karisma withdrew her consent from the divorce in November 2015, due to reported disagreements over monetary issues.

The mud-slinging between the couple began soon after when in Jan 2016 Sanjay alleged that Karisma had married him for his money and on a rebound after breaking up with Abhishek Bachchan.

Karisma retaliated in February 2016 by filing a police complaint against Sanjay and his mother, charging them of mental harassment over dowry.

In March, Sanjay submitted a plea in the Supreme Court asking for the divorce proceedings to be transferred from Mumbai to Delhi, as he was getting threat calls from the underworld.

As things stand today, the couple seems to have finally put everything behind them to mutually agree on the modalities for a separation before the Supreme Court.
