Giving the audience a break from regular courtroom dramas, Sex ki Adalat is a new Hindi web series which discusses critical issues like sexual and reproductive health and rights of the youth and adolescents. The five-episode series is set simply in a 80s-style courtroom with a male and female lawyer representing people over various issues. While the first episode talked about virginity, the second tackles the issue of favouring a male child.

And what’s more, each episode ends with the five main characters taking a selfie - adding that contemporary touch. Effective without being preachy, and with some humour thrown in, Sex ki Adalat is a timely production. Since such shows are rare in Hindi, it’s no doubt a laudable effort in edutainment by the Population Foundation of India.

There is not much innovation in terms of character development or dialogues, but given the objective, they do well enough.

It’s totally worth the six minutes of your time.
