After winning hearts with his amazing performance in Netflix series Sacred Games, actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has signed another Netflix project. He will be playing the lead role in an upcoming film Serious Men. Serious Men will be an adaptation of Manu Joseph’s novel of the same name. It will be directed by filmmaker Sudhir Mishra.

Taran Adarsh confirmed this news on Monday.

“IT’S OFFICIAL... After #SacredGames, Nawazuddin Siddiqui to play the lead role in Netflix’s upcoming film #SeriousMen... An adaptation of Manu Joseph’s book #SeriousMen... Directed by Sudhir Mishra... This will be Nawaz’s second project with Netflix”, he wrote on Twitter.

On 28 May, Manu Joseph had tweeted that Nawazuddin would be playing the role of Ayyan Mani in the film adaptation of his book Serious Men.

He had taken to Twitter to make the announcement: “Nawazuddin Siddiqui will play Ayyan Mani in the film adaptation of my first novel Serious Men, which will be a Netflix original. 'If you stare long enough at serious people they will begin to appear comical' - Ayyan Mani in Serious Men”

“What can I say about Nawaz that has already not been said? He is a wonderful actor and I always wanted to work with him. But I had to offer him something interesting because good actors are always attracted to a good script. In Manu Joseph’s ‘Serious Men’, I found one part for him.”
Sudhir Mishra told IANS

Serious Men follows the story of Ayyan Mani, a dalit man, navigating his professional as well as personal life in the chaos of Mumbai. It is a story of class and gender conflict and was Manu Joseph’s debut novel.

Talking more about it, Sudhir Mishra said: "It is a great story that revolves around the relationship of a father and son from the Dalit community. Though there is a lot of angst in him and most of his decisions are driven by anger... he is a father after all."
