Season 2 of Netflix’s first Indian Original series Sacred Games released on 15 August and while the show’s cast members – Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Pankaj Tripathi – are being lauded for their performances, several fans are of the opinion that overall, this season is a disappointment, especially after the gripping first instalment. This, of course, has spawned a host of memes comparing the two.

Sacred Games season 2 follows two parallel narratives: Saif Ali Khan, aka Sartaj Singh, in the present day, racing against time to stop a plot to annihilate Mumbai; and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, aka Ganesh Gaitonde, trying to reestablish himself in Kenya, far from the city that made him akin to a god, and fulfil his plan of revenge. The season also features Pankaj Tripathi as Gaitonde’s ‘teesra baap (third father)’, who embroils the gangster in his nefarious plans, and Kalki Koechlin as his aide Batya Abelman. The show has been co-directed by Anurag Kashyap and Masaan director Neeraj Ghaywan with Vikramaditya Motwane as showrunner.
