Anushka Sharma’s Digital Debut ‘Pataal Lok’ to Release on 15 May
The series will be produced by Anushka’s Clean Slate Films.
Anushka Sharma’s digital debut as a producer will be marked by the series Pataal Lok to be released on Amazon Prime Video on 15 May. The streaming platform revealed the logo of the Amazon Original Series today. The video gives us a peek into a seemingly peaceful world that nurses a dormant, dark and dangerous underbelly – Paatal Lok.
Coupled with a foreboding narration, the video casts a spotlight on the darker side of humanity. Inspired by the ancient realms of Swargalok (heaven), Dharti Lok (earth), and Patal Lok (netherworld), the neo-noir series delves into the interplay within the four estates of democracy. The actor unveiled the new teaser on Instagram, and wrote, “From the underbelly comes a crime thriller that will change how you look at the world you live in. #PaatalLok #NewSeriesOnPrime, May 15.”
Bankrolled by her Clean Slate Films, web series stars Gul Panag, Jaideep Ahlawat, Abhishek Banerjee, Bengali actor Swastika Mukherjee and Neeraj Kabi among others. This will be Anushka’s debut in the digital space, and will be helmed by NH10 and Udta Punjab writer Sudip Sharma.
The first teaser didn’t give away a lot of details but showed blood spatter on the screen and a voiceover stated, “The countdown has begun. To change the law of the land, the worms have crept in, who will spread terror and shed blood. They will turn the world into a living hell.”
Sharing the teaser of the web series, Anushka Sharma wrote, “सब बदलेगा, समय, लोग और लोक।” (Everything is about to change - time, people and era)
Anushka has earlier produced films like NH10, Phillauri and Pari, and will also be producing two Netflix originals. On the acting front, she was last seen in Aanand L Rai’s Zero along with Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif.
